In SEO, everyone knows that Google dictates the rules!

As we had previously explained, there are several SEO algorithms for the Google search engine. And these algorithms are constantly evolving, adapting to user behavior.

And at the moment.... a big update is in progress... ! 👇

The new update

Google is part of our lives and many of our searches are directed to the famous question;

"I don't know, ask Google."

As a result, since August 2022, Google introduces a new update of its algorithm: the"helpfull content" update.

This is part of a global action plan of the search engine, which aims to highlight sites with original, relevant and human-centered content.

Google's recommendations

Good SEO practices are obviously still recommended by Google. But regarding this update, Google addresses some specific recommendations such as ;

  • Create content that highlights specific expertise
  • Satisfy the user during his reading
  • Educate your readers enough

You can find all the recommendations in the official Google article. But we can remember that Google plays the game of collective intelligence and now favors answers to "How to" questions

Content to avoid

It's pretty clear in the documentation, you have to avoid (even stop) creating content designed specifically for search engines. Basically, no more "SEO hacks".

Google tip to avoid;

  • AI-generated content
  • To have a broad content strategy as opposed to specializing in a particular subject
  • That your content does not meet the demand, and that the user needs a second search to complete his answer
  • Add words "to please Google".
  • Unofficial information

⚠️ Content deemed useless by Google will have a negative impact on the ranking of your entire site. Google therefore recommends in some cases to remove content that does not provide added value to Internet users, but has been created only for the purpose of "hack seo".

Conclusion

This update aims to limit the creation of content made for search engines and encourage the creation of authentic content, more human.

The approach to take is therefore;

  1. Avoid over-optimization,
  2. Avoid the creation of "mass" content and focus on a more qualitative strategy, on a market of expertise,
  3. Encourage the sharing of information with high added value for the readers of your site.
