Client first system with the logo of Digidop and finsweet and a preview of the Webflow CSS

Why did Digidop choose to develop its Webflow websites with this method?

@digidop we are a no-code agency specialized in website development, on webflow. Our agency offers web design and development solutions with the best tool to optimize your website on search engines: webflow.

Our vision is to develop the most efficient solutions without code but also the most adapted to our customers. We have therefore decided to develop 100% of our websites with the "Client-first" method to improve :

  • Accessibility and performance
  • Create a website at scale more easily
  • Productivity of your web management teams (x10 vs Wordpress/squarespace)

Let's go and give you our opinion (which explains our choice)!

Introduction to "Client-first" the new design method on Webflow

What is the "Client-First" system?

The "Client-first" system is a development model for creating Webflow sites with :

- An extremely clear structure

- A clean and easily scalable base (CMS, Global Classes, etc)

- Best practices in terms of SEO and accessibility

Concretely, this consists in giving a clear and understandable name to each of your CSS elements on Webflow, so that everyone can understand and work on it. It is also about creating a maximum of dynamic components, in order to optimise your site and to make productivity gains in the development and the daily management.

1 - Finsweet

Finsweet is a webflow agency, recognized as perhaps the best webflow agency in the world. They are specialized in Webflow development and have in their portfolio sites like Dropbox, docusign etc.

They provide the Webflow community with a lot of content and support in order to make using Webflow even easier (and more complete). Think of it as a nice alternative to the Wordpress plugin 😂

2 - Universal method

With no-code, there are so many ways to create, but not all methods are as clear and understandable to everyone. The client-first methodology is a real revolution because it has been designed to be understandable by everyone. Web designers, experts, beginners, children, the words used are clear and easy to understand. For example: Colour - text - red

I suggest you check out the resources provided by the Finsweet team which are absolutely huge! Videos, documents, blog posts, tutorials, and our channel on Slack. I want to share with you a link to their development methodology.

Why did Digidop choose this development method?

1 - A customer-oriented no-code approach

Our aim is to make digital accessible and above all empower you to use it in the most comprehensive way possible. This style of development allows us to deliver webflow sites that are understandable and easy to use by all members of your team so that they can develop their site without a developer. Creation of new blog pages, articles, teams etc...

2 - No dependence on your developer

You might think that the no-code is simple, but the lego construction can quickly become a puzzle. You can compare it to all the cables behind your TV... internet box, hdmi cable, console... but how do you know which cable does what if you didn't install them?

And that is a limitation. It can be very difficult for you to hand over your project to someone else (a webflow developer or freelancer) because they might not understand how and why your css is structured the way it is. However, as the client-first method is simple and universal, you may decide to work with another agency in the future who will look at each block/module and instantly know why it's there instead of having to sit down and figure it all out from scratch, which takes less time but also reduces the risk of "breaking" things along the way.

3 - SEO quality

4 - Templates for learning

The company Finsweet has made available various cloneable projects in the Webflow showcase that allow you to copy them to understand the "Client-first" CSS structure more easily.

5 - The case study of the site Digidop.fr

To test this Webflow development method, we decided to rebuild our old website with the "Client-first" methodology and the results speak for themselves:

  • + 15 to 20 lighthouse performance points per page 🚀
  • Accessibility and tagging to WACG2 best practice ✅
  • 2x faster in our daily management (creating a new section, blog, page or item) ⏱
  • The whole team works on the site without the need for an "expert". 😎
